™ 1/5 ™" A $4,000 CafÃ range caught fire on its first use, and Home Depot abandoned us This has been one of the worst and most upsetting purchase experiences we have ever had. We paid approximately $4,000 for a premium CafÃ gas range from Home Depot, expecting a high-quality, dependable appliance. Instead, the oven caught fire the very first time we used it™"and now nobody wants to take responsibility. The range was delivered on August 1. We had recently installed a new gas pipe in our home, and it had to pass inspection before we could legally and safely connect the range. For that reason, we could not install or test it until August 25. On the night of August 25, we used the range for the very first time. We were excited and decided to celebrate by baking a cake. Instead of a celebration, we had a frightening experience: the lower oven caught fire, shut itself off, and displayed fault code F350. We immediately turned everything off because we were scared for our safety and our home. After that first incident, the oven completely stopped working and has not worked again at all. Only the cooktop still works. We paid around $4,000 for a premium range, but after a single use, we are left with nothing more than an extremely expensive cooktop. I called Home Depot the very next day, August 26. Home Depot refused to replace or return the defective range because it had been more than 48 hours since delivery. They completely ignored the fact that we could not test it sooner because our new gas line was still awaiting inspection. Apparently, Home Depot™™s 48-hour clock matters more than the fact that a brand-new appliance caught fire during its first use. Home Depot sent us to GE for warranty service. GE sent a technician, but he appeared completely unfamiliar with this CafÃ range and was unable to diagnose or repair it. It was obvious to us that he did not have the necessary knowledge or experience to handle this appliance. He left without solving anything. When we called GE again, we were told that GE only handles warranty repairs and would not replace the range. They told us to contact Home Depot. We then called Home Depot again and spent nearly 40 minutes speaking with a supervisor, only to be refused once more and sent back to GE for another repair attempt. Home Depot and GE have been passing us back and forth while we remain stuck with a brand-new, nonfunctioning appliance that caught fire. Neither company seems willing to take ownership of this serious problem. Who pays $4,000 for a supposedly premium CafÃ appliance expecting it to need repairs after its very first use? We did not pay premium-brand money to receive a defective and potentially dangerous product that immediately became a repair project. Even if it is repaired, how are we supposed to feel safe and confident using an oven that caught fire the first time we turned it on? Can you imagine how disappointing and frightening that feels? A brand-new appliance that fails during its first use should be replaced™"not repeatedly repaired while the customer is forced to chase two companies that keep blaming each other. Home Depot took our money, hid behind an unreasonable 48-hour policy, and left us to deal with the consequences. I deeply regret buying this range from Home Depot. Had we purchased it from a retailer with stronger customer service, such as Costco, I believe a serious first-use safety failure would have been handled with far more responsibility and concern. I strongly recommend that customers think twice before buying any major appliance from Home Depot, especially an expensive one. Their 48-hour policy can leave you completely unprotected if installation is delayed for legitimate reasons. Based on our experience, once Home Depot has your money, you may be left alone with a defective appliance while Home Depot and the manufacturer send you back and forth. This experience ruined the excitement of buying our new range and replaced it with fear, frustration, wasted time, and complete disappointment. A $4,000 premium appliance should never catch fire on its first use™"and a major retailer should never treat its customer this way afterward. Also I would add this now because I just noticed we bought this more pricy than what I see in here price here is showing now $3299 which we paid more , this is another problem

For the money you would think it would not be such a sensitive surface, and of course they all say cosmetic is not covered for warranty. I was using pad and glass top cleaner and forgot my wedding band was on and it barely touched the surface and left and 4™ long scratch. Makes me fear anything touching it will scratch it. Surface does heat quick and hot, have not used ovens yet.

Do not buy a Cafe induction range! If you get a boil-over while cooking pasta, even a minor one (it happens to eveyone) it goes into sone kind of safety shutdown mode and won't work for anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours. There goes dinner! Now you're getting take out because you can't cook anything! Also, it randomly does this thing where the burners cycle on and off. I had that problem repaired under warranty (they could not diagnose the problem, so they just repkaced the control board), but it still randomly does it. Not always, but once in a while, and when it's doing it, you can't cook! I wanted a gas range, but was talked into this thing because of how fast it can boil a pot of water. It's true that it boils water very quickly, but it's just so quirky. And, you have no choice but to have a "smart" appliance. There is no version that does not require a wifi connection for full functionality and software updates. Oh yeah, I just remembered. The wifi module was also defective and I had to have it replaced. I know gas is not environmentally friendly, and you are burning fuel inside your kitchen, but I really wish I would have gone with gas. Tried to do the right thing and live my values, but I regret buying this unit. The dual ovens are nice...

Not a great oven if you are physically limited

Overall the oven works well, the controls are intuitive, I was able to set up wifi relatively easily, and there were thoughtful inclusions including graphite oil to grease the rails. However, the bottom drawer is really really low. If you have problems squatting or bending down, you will never use the bottom compartment. Which would be a shame because it's the larger compartment and the only one you can use convection cooking. Additionally, I didn't see any instructions for how to use the oven, install the pull out rail or use the graphite oil in the packaging. I had to look that up.

Poor burners

Cafe GE range cooktop 5/1/2026

Do not puchase this if you are a good cook or cook a lot. The heating element on the right front side that says 'power boil' runs too hot even on low. Everything burns even on low. Impossible to have that burner on low to saute, and it's the burner for your large pan. The one you use most is the one with issues that will not resolve. I've tried. I've had controls/elements replaced 3 times. The last time, the technician had the switch and replacement elements in hand, but used diagnostic tools to see where the issue was and called into CAFE GE to confirm there was nothing to fix. He left without replacing anything and I am left with a burner that will continue to burn everything I try to cook on it. The person at CAFE GE just stated that burner does in fact run hot by design. It's impossible to cook anything on the front burner. It's really only good to boil water or simmer large pot of soup. I'm so so so upset about this. I spent more for what I thought was a higher end product only to have a deficient cooktop by design. I should have just spent the money for the highest end range in the $1000 plus category as this one (while it looks nicer) is no nicer than something you can get off the floor at Home Depot. I can only recommend if all you do is bake and look at your oven. Stove top is horrible, horrible, horrible. I will try to copy this review absolutely every place I can so others can avoid this product.

This is the worse range I ever owned. I regret it every day. The ™quick burner™™s low is never low and so hard to read the right setting. Burners are so hard to clean. The stainless steal in the front of burners is so cheap, gets scratched when you breathe over it. The size of burners don™™t cover regular needs; too many small ones and not enough bigger size. The most upsetting part is that you have to connect to internet to use air fryer. GE gets your information and privacy. The person who designed definitely doesn™™t cook. I strongly don™™t recommend it.

I wish the range was customizable when I ordered it, my husband isn™™t keen on doing extra things like that. Otherwise, it™™s wonderful although you do need to read the manual and really understand your range. The warming burner took me a few minutes to figure out. I have a large family and It™™s met all of my needs for cooking large meals. WiFi was easy to setup and oven cooking options are pretty straightforward. I love that everything connects to my phone tells me when the oven is done preheating and when the timers done. The technology is great! I love my new range

4/8/2026 Super disappointed with this product. Far less expensive stovetops have outlasted this pretty but faulty appliance. The largest heating element died on us and I have only owned it for 2 years. The replacement piece alone is over $230 dollars. This doesn™™t include any labor. Do not recommend. Update 4/9/2026 Someone from GEs Digital Engagement Engagement Team reached out for additional information and created a case number which was passed along to a case manager. I™™m hoping GE will resolve this seeing as it appears to be a frequent issue based on the reviews listed.

Love having two ovens, but I'm very surprised and disappointed that there aren't two timers.. Sure I can use a counter one, but this seems like a big oversight. Plus I ordered the knob and handle kit back in Feb. and it still hasn't arrived. Plus both oven doors had two big scratches on each door, like someone sliced them with a utility knife. Now I'm waiting for two new doors also.

Enjoying the versatility of the range. The range it replaced was original to the house (1986), so it's been nice to step in to the 21st century with this range! Just taking some time to get familiar with the levels and "nature" of the individual burners (BTW, the warmer burner is kinda a waste... it just don't quite get warm enough.). Really like the oven controls. Anyone can figure it out in seconds. Haven't used the thermometer or the app yet...Not sure if I ever will!

I™™ve had my stove a little over a month. I love it. At Thanksgiving it was perfect. I used both ovens with items at different temperatures and cook times. I™™m enjoying the extra burners too. They heat up very quickly, so does the oven. The WiFi features really works for me as my phone alerts when the oven has reached temperature and also alerts when the timer is going off. I™™m so happy with my stove.

The ovens are amazing but the stove top does not change temperature from high to low or low to high. It seems you have to turn the stove, top off entirely and then restart at low if you want to change from high to low. In my opinion, that is totally ridiculous!

About the stove after the same stove but with an induction top died. Our induction board went out and was told it would cost over $1300 without labor to try to fix. We opted for the non-induction version this time to match the remaining pieces in our kitchen that are still cafÃ (dishwasher broke after about 3 years). I like that this one has real knobs and they are on the front of the stove so you don™™t get as much splatter when cooking. However, now I am going to have to have a repair person come out because when you open the top oven the steam from inside the stove messes up the digital control panel on the front of the stove and you cannot navigate that whole panel until it cools off and the steam dissipates, which can be a minute or more. I had profile appliances prior to purchasing the cafÃ and if the profile double oven stove had real knobs instead of a digital knob I would 1 million times over by that set over cafÃ. We™™ve had issues with the control panel on our cafÃ fridge as well. So thankfully, since we just got the new stove it™™s still under warranty and we can see if we can get this control panel issue fixed.

Both ovens only have a heating element on top. The larger bottom oven should have a burner on both top and bottom. I regret the purchase of the double oven, as it™™s does not provide the even cooking of a single oven.

Ceramic Cooktop very hard to clean.

Very disappointed on my new range cooktop. It doesn't clean well, even with recommended cooktop cleaner. I have had 3 ceramic cooktop stoves before and I never had this issue. From day one with minor spills, it leaves spots that cannot be removed. I thought it was me, and then I discovered in multiple reviews the same exact complaint. I also find the stainless steel front very sensitive to light touch of any cookware. It gets scratched very easily. So if you took off the oven a tray of brownie and touched the stainless steel part, it is scratched. It is almost like walking on eggs.In the manual it says not to use rough cookware. I don't think now days quality cookware is rough. They just covering themselves for the poor quality of their product, so they can blame the consumer that didn't use it properly. Another thing is that the plastic gasket that sits on the front of the stove, does not fit properly on the slit, and as a result the food particles get stuck there. Also very frustrated that I had to connect the wi-fi first before using the air fry. That's unnecessary and a way to get all consumer's info. I received no manual-I had to go online to find out about my product information-who does this? I thought investing to a good quality range would be worthwhile, but I am sorry GE, this is an overpriced product with poor performance.

Ovens work well the surface burners are fine for most cooking. Boiling water with All Clad type pots takes longer than I like. Water for pasta takes 20 minutes. Not good.

Like almost everything about this range but wish both the top and bottom had the convection and air fryer options, not just the bottom. Also, the first unit that was delivered had screws missing on the lower pan that were clearly missed during manufacturing and a second unit had to be delivered.

I love this range! It is the second one I have purchased, as a matter of fact. I considered bringing the first one with me when we sold our house and moved. The double ovens are amazing, the cooktops are well appropriated and they both cook very evenly. If the kitchen is "your space" in the house, you will love this range.

I love the double oven. For retired people the smaller oven is so handy. I like to cook and bake but do not need a large oven anymore. Controls are easy to see and read. the light up feature shows at a glance if you have left the stove on or not.

Love the stove How it gave a facelift to my kitchen. Love how fast instantly you have full high heat in the burners. My old stove was a workhorse from Kenmore still stovetop worked fine except the oven settings broke and could not use it. But huge difference in how fast these burners come on. Have not used the oven yet, just to test both ovens and to burn off the new layer new ovens come with, where a little smoke comes out for 15 minutes. Played around to get used to with all the features. I have to figure out the air-fryer mode yet. And will contact company for the front rubber on stovetop which has a little cut to see if they send me a new once. Didn™™t noticed until installer left. Also my neighbor has one for a couple years now and they are so happy with it that I took the plunge and got this lovely stove. Plus I wanted front knobs and that™™s a big plus.
