This fridge has given us grief for 3 years. Works fine at first, then the cooling will go out with the ice maker. Multiple issues ™fixed™ by a technician -still ended up needing a replacement. Now our replacement fridge needs a replacement because it™™s doing the same thing again. So both fridges in 3 years have stopped working. Not super happy considering the cost. Would not recommend this one.

In the few short years that we™™ve owned this, it has had at LEAST nine service calls. Ice maker broke twice before, and it is NOW broke again! Water running down the side of the inside of the freezer AND refrigerator. Replaced fans at least twice, we lost food once. Absolute JUNK!

Defective with bad service from GE

This refrigerator starts building ice behind the freezer wall and over the fan, when we called GE for repair after multiple calls and requests since they claim that this is not a manufacturing defect!!! they finally agree to send a technician who changed a part and after that the refrigerator start leaking water, each time we call GE they say the technician not available or calling sick and until the now and after 3 months of phone calls and e mails the issue has not resolved. I had to buy a new refrigerator to use meanwhile.

Bought fridge in late 2022 we™™ve had problems on and off ever since. I wish some of these reviews had existed then I would have never bought it. Lower drawers don™™t open if door is open 90° due to the installation I can™™t open it much more, ice machine design is absolutely horrible, it™™s so high you can™™t get into it so we shut it off. Now it doesn™™t cool, freezer is 20° and fridge is 44° and of course it™™s just out of warranty. I expected so much more for a fridge we paid over $10k for now we are stuck with it and an undetermined amount to fix it.

One would think when you spend that much money on a refrigerator you™™re getting a better value, but we have had somebody out twice and the same problem reoccurs GE wants to do nothing about it except charge me. We love the look of this refrigerator however the performance has been terrible. From the first year of purchase ,the ice maker has broken at least 5 times. When the ice maker breaks so does the refrigerator. Although service has been exceptional it™™s not always quick (4-5 days) resulting in multiple scrambles to try and place food in other areas to save what we have. For the price of the refrigerator I have a higher expectation on the performance and have been very dissatisfied.

I agree with prior reviews about the ice maker. This is a solid appliance that generally works well, but the ice maker is in a bad location. It is difficult to get to the ice, and there is no way to get the ice unless you slide out the collection drawer. The ice tends to clump into one solid mass. Otherwise, it is a really good product.

So far we're very happy, for week one. We hsd to replace our 18 year old GE Monogram Refrig with this one. Both are 42" Side By Side Built-in models. Pleasantly surprised how much bigger the interior space feels larger than the older refrig. The interior wall of the refrig is flatter than our older model that had a bump out for the lighting. Plus the new model is far brighter, and it appears much easier to see items throughout. Appears more organized and far easier to access.

We have a 2 year old version of this fridge. We've had the ice maker replaced 3 times and now the fan that circulates air has died. The freezer is 25 degrees and the fridge is 55 degrees. The company we bought it from is claiming it is out of warranty. Don't waste your money or your groceries.

I like the fridge. I don™™t like GE customer care. We have had our fridge for a few years. It™™s been pretty good. A decent value at way less $$ than Sub Z About six weeks ago, the evaporator fan blade started sounding less like a gentle hum and more like a helicopter taking off. We™™ve had two service calls since™"the first one replaced the evaporator fan(which did not solve the problem) and the second one came out and said there is nothing more to do. This is very poor service. Our fridge is ridiculously loud!! It must be fixed™¦this is equivalent to taking your car in for service because it™™s belching black smoke and the repair shop concluding ™everything is fine™"your car just belches black smoke now.™

Ice maker is horrific. I wish I had read these reviews first. The ice maker is up high at the top of the freezer and you have to reach up to try to get the ice that is always frozen into a block. The design is so bad that we thought a piece was missing. We called GE and the customer service person said she didn™™t know what the inside looked like and couldn™™t help us.

Love the sleek look of this refrigerator but unfortunately they installed a faulty icemaker in all models. Read the reviews before purchasing. We™™ve had our icemaker replaced and repaired 3x and still have no ice. When you pay this much for a refrigerator you would expect a good icemaker but not in this model.

Ice maker should be lighted and better positioned for access. The opening is too small, making it impossible to use even a tiny scoop. Turning it on and off is also problematic: pushing the refrigerator temp + & - buttons at the same time takes multiple tries to actually effect the change.

They came out several times with different parts trying to fix it, nothing worked. They finally just told us it's done for. That was it. A 10k fridge is "done for" after six years of use. So incredibly disappointed in our experience with our 42" CafÃ built in refrigerator. It isn't two years old and we've had multiple failures, but what has been worse has been GE Appliances customer service. We're on our 7th service call for our current issue and our fridge has been dead for almost a month!! We™™ve dealt with missed appointments by service techs, failed repairs, long waits for each appointment. The most frustrating thing is the lack of any sense of urgency by GE Appliances to get the issue resolved, despite their service tech (who has been here numerous times) now telling us the unit is unrepairable. They continue to defer to their "next availability" to get someone out again instead of understanding it shouldn't be about their schedule anymore, it should be about taking care of their customer who spent a lot of money on a product which looks to be a lemon. Their customer relations people just read from their scripts and resist allowing you to talk to anyone else. From the looks at their social media it seems we are just one in a long line of failed products and customer service experiences. FYI, When the unit was two months old we had our first failure and part replaced. I'd stay away.

This refrigerator is worthless!!! After 6 months, the evaporator fan went out. The internal ice maker is absolutely awful. It leaks, ice falls from the back and the bottom constantly freezes. The refrigerator doesn't get cold enough and here we are again with a broken evaporator fan again...twice in 6 months. I've lost hundreds of dollars worth of food, twice now. They make you order the part and wait for it to get shipped to you, which means you have to wait weeks for a repair...and it was over $300 out of pocket. This is a bad product and GE knows it. I would never purchase this product or any other GE appliances EVER!!!

Unit delivered 21 Dec 21. Satisfied until Jan 23. Leaking from right side, dripping down the front on to the floor. This complaint is one of two posted. A valve was replaced, leak stopped until 02 Apr 24 when the same problem repeated. Local technician states that he cannot find cause.

First, a part that covers the ceiling lights and other components fell off unexpectedly. Then, it started making a lot of noise and couldn't keep our food cold enough. We had to call a technician who charged us $ to replace a broken fan. We had to go without a refrigerator for weeks during this repair. Unfortunately, about six months later, the same problem happened again. This time, the technician told us we needed to buy another expensive part because water was causing the noise issue in this model. On top of that, two workers would need to spend two hours installing it. When we tried to get reimbursed for these expensive parts, we were just redirected to a different support line. Honestly, we're really disappointed with this refrigerator very much. It's been expensive to fix, and we're worried about what might break next. Overall, it seems to me a low-quality product.

The fridge is a beauty™¦.looks amazing in my kitchen. I seriously bought it because it was in the model and loved the look. I always knew that the capacity would be smaller than previous fridges I had since it™™s a counter depth fridge™¦which obviously adds to the great look in my kitchen. Big drawback, the ice maker is horrible. I can never get an adequate amount of ice out of it although it says full on my app. It is always freezing up on the bottom and small cubes come flying out of the back whenever you try and get ice out. I did not want an external ice/water dispenser as I liked the sleeker look on this one. For the price point of this appliance, this feature should be flawless. Not my best purchase.

The fridge is definitely the biggest disappointment. It is VERY small (shallow) for being the larger model. My camper fridge had more room. I™™ve had to purchase things to modify the space such as short egg containers to maximize space. The ice machine is a while other issue. I didn™™t want the dispenser on the front so we could have a clean look. The ice machine was a huge design flaw. If you scoop ice, there is not a back to the compartment so ice is constantly falling out and down into the freezer. I had to purchase a piece of plexi to put in the back to try and keep the ice in the compartment. I™™ve researched options to add on or replace with a more functional option but nothing. Even a simple pull device to allow ice to get into the cup would be an upgrade. If subzero would have had a similar style I would have gone for it instead. We™™ve been in our house a year and this is my only regret. Again, beautiful but not the right size or functionality for our family.

Fridge is great. Freezer works great. The icemaker should be easier to get to, in my opinion this is a bad design and not user friendly.

I love everything except the fact that my top refrigerator compartment is an open bin when the floor model had an enclosed compartment with a lift up cover. I expected the same one I saw on the floor. It™™s quiet and easy to keep clean.

If you want a fridge that costs as much as a used car that can™™t make ice buy this refrigerator. Ice maker never worked from the day we purchased. Replaced twice Uber warranty and still worthless. Not worth replacing again. Had to bring ice from the fridge in my office that is 12 years old and makes more ice than you can ever use that was 300 bucks and still works like a charm. How this can be the best GE you can buy I have no idea. If you buy this junk you should plan on hiking up a mountain to chop s block of ice and keep it in an icehouse like you are on little house in the prairie.

Disappointed that this high end appliance is not so great. Ice maker is loud and the fridge leaks water. Nice looking and keeps food cold but not what you would expect from an expensive appliance.

We just purchased a new home and got the "cafe" appliance package. The installers installed brand new refrigerator, and it does not work. A technician has come out to determine the problem is the motherboard. I am so disappointed that we have now been in our home for 2 weeks and are having to use a dorm refrigerator until someone comes out to fix our brand-new refrigerator that we cannot even use. If I had purchased this refrigerator at a retail store, it would have been returned immediately for one that works. I am disappointed to say the least, with the Holidays approaching quickly there is no way I will be able to pull off dinner living out of a dorm frig.

we bought this refrigerator to replace a 48" Kitchen Aid that worked like a charm for 20 years. No 48" were available except a $15,000 Viking. We opted for the 42" now there's a 3" gap on either side since it's built it. Besides having far less room, there is no ice dispenser nor cold water dispenser. To make matters worse, the unit hums loud enough to be heard in the next room.

The unit has a very solid, high quality look and feel to it that goes well with our other appliances from different manufacturers. The compressor motor™™s sound is noticeable but not overly loud, we notice it only because our prior Sub Zero was completely silent. The ice maker works great, pumps out a Lot of ice that also tastes good due to having a good water filter. The storage in both the fridge and freezer is well laid out and seems to exceed the amount we had from the Sub Zero, which was also a 42 inch cabinet style unit. We™™re happy so far!
