Water and Ice does not work on new refrigerator

We have a full line of GE Cafe appliances in our vacation home and love them, so that™™s why we went with GE Cafe for our primary home. However, the water and ice feature in our new GE Cafe refrigerator does not work. The store that sold them to us tried to fix once and could not; now we are waiting an additional two weeks for another technician. Highly disappointing given our prior experience with GE Cafe!

Spent over 16,000 on all Cafe appliance for our remodel. Look the look, but fridge quit dispensing water 3 weeks ago. Purchased extended warranty, two techs later, several parts ordered and delivered. Part installed quit working with 6 hours of installation. Still waiting for response from warranty company. Crazy money for this kind of appliance and service.

Great features - HORRIBLE ice maker!

This refrigerator looks great! It does have a lot of good features - spacious. The biggest draw-back is the external ice maker. IT SUCKS! The ice maker unit is too small and doesn't produce much ice - when it does - takes much longer to get it in a glass....sometimes no ice for the entire day. I am now looking into buying a good countertop ice maker. Irritating since we spent a fortune on all these appliances - and this is an issue that we deal with daily. i already see defects on the bottom corners of our dishwasher (where the metal is already cracking as other reviews have stated) and the bottom rack catches as you pull it out - does not move smoothly when you pull it out like our previous 15 year old dishwasher and all others we've had over the years. We had all appliances installed 2 months ago (April 2026 - refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and over/stove combo). The oven/stove and microwave have been doing well so far. Why GE can't do better with this upper line of appliances is beyond understanding. DO BETTER GE!

I have had appliance repair service technicians out 3 times and my cafe series fridge still isn't working right. I have never regretted a purchase more. For what I paid I should not be having problems on a fridge that's only a couple years old.

We love the design of the white cafe appliances. We also wanted an American made product. This is our 2nd refrigerator of the exact model. Our first one was purchased approximately 18 months ago and the closed system (condenser, etc) quit working. We waited for over 3 weeks for parts and were notified that the parts were not available, so this refrigerator was set to replace ours. We were disappointed that our original purchase failed in 18 months, but were grateful that GE took care of us.

Disappointment from the Start

I bought this refrigerator September 11, 2025 from Home Depot online. I owned the Counter depth version at my previous house and LOVED it. However, I have already had to call for a repair on this one. We set the drawer for cold drinks and within the 1st week, my cans were freezing and bursting. We changed to the 37 degrees and now the drinks just aren't very cold. Additionally, the freezer top 2 drawers are completely covered in ice and frost. The repair man came out and said they had to order a new seal, they returned about a week later and changed the seal. When I returned home and opened the freezer, they did not clean up any of the frost or ice. My husband had to take the freezer drawers completely out and use an ice scraper to scrape the back and sides of the freezer compartment. Frost was covering what appeared to be several vents. I thought I would enjoy the extra space of the full size refrigerator but I am definitely unhappy with it so far. The top doors are uneven and do not feel like they are sealing properly. I would expect a $5000 refrigerator to be be working perfectly from Day 1. I contacted GE to see if I could exchange it and pay for the more expensive counter depth and of course they said no. I guess I will just keep calling the repair man. You can only get an exchange from HD in 48 hours and GE Cafe directly at least gives you 30 days. I asked for a credit towards purchasing another appliance and that was also declined. For expensive, high end appliances, I guess I expected high end customer service. No such luck here.

His name is Marcello. I am 51 years old, mother of three adult children and for the first time in two houses and 31 years of marriage, I finally have a kitchen applicance I am obsessed with. Marcello is always the perfect temperature and welcomes you into a darkened room with a soft increased glow of light from the water dispenser. As you open the doors the massive size of the interior doesn't even require the need for door space. Yet, Marcello, dazzles, those thinner shelves on the water door hold all those items that lost behind or under something else. Marcello is here to make your life easier. Do you want to fill a glass of water while letting the dogs outside? Marcello will take care of that for you. Are his doors open a little too long, the soft gentle notification does not scream, but whispers in your ear, "Do you still need me open"? And the drawers, oh the middle drawer. Marcello's middle drawer can be used to safely thaw items, store easy to reach snacks for the young ones or be used as a wine fridge that you can set to any temperature, unique from the refrigerator. Our Italian house uses Marcello's center drawer as our cheese drawer. While I only have the refrigerator at this time, I've already planned out purchasing all my kitchen appliances to match. This is the first time in my entire life that my refrigerator is not just utilitarian, but a big, beautiful beast named Marcello that takes care of your every need. Also, no dirty hands allowed. Mom's rule.

We replaced three of our appliances in the kitchen as they were pretty old. We wanted to stick with white because we live in a small condo with a relatively small kitchen. The Matte White is perfect is it tends to hide fingerprints and other markings. It easily cleans up. And just looks gorgeous. Quite the subtle upgrade from what we had before. No fad-like extras, just classy and upscale a bit. We hope all the appliances last for many years to come.

I love the exterior and interior look of this refrigerator. However, I feel like there is room for improvement on the overall design. Shelving has two latch points on each side of the shelves making them very sturdy, but does make for limited spacing options. The grove that goes around the outside of the fridge drawer & freezer draw make it difficult for a nice fit on some food and beverage products, & the three stacked drawers in the freezer seem to work against each other.

Just got my new fridge installed a couple days ago but so far I just LOVE it. The inside lighting is wonderful plus the lighted vegetable bins are great. Middle drawer is exceptional as is the three tiered freezer! Still trying to figure out all of the temp. controls and all but so far its such a beautiful addition to my kitchen.

We have had our Cafe appliances installed for about three years. We did buy the matching fridge, stove and dishwasher. I love my Cafe refrigerator! It has worked flawlessly in every way but my favorite thing is how beautiful it is. Everyone who comes in comments on the refrigerator. I have very light blue cabinets and the refrigerator picks up the blue and matches everything perfectly. The capacity is awesome, temperature has been consistent. I do struggle with tall things because the shelf spacing is hard to make work but I think that would be a problem with any refrigerator. I have removed a shelf before but really don't want to so I just put up with that. That is the most negative thing I have to say about my beautiful, wonderful Cafe refrigerator.

I own the refrigerator and range as well as the Cafe brand dishwasher. I have always been well pleased with the quality of their products. Only problem I™™ve had is with Lowe™™s. They are who I brought my refrigerator through and refused to talk to me on the phone about the doors being very uneven upon set-up. Deliver guy went so far as to say there is nothing we can do, it comes that way he says! Very, very upset about this! I can™™t get anyone on the phone to talk to about it!

Our favorite fridge yet, the adjustable shelves are easy to move and configure to our needs. We have so much more room than in a side by side and everything is easy to see and find. No more containers growing science projects hiding in the back of the fridge. 4th drawer is a new must for all future fridges, we stock it with lunch items making our morning ritual of lunch packing a breeze. Not to forget to mention, it's absolutely gorgeous and literally glows when you open the doors! Speaking of doors, it's nice to be able to just open one side and not have to open the entire fridge up to get one item out. The crispers temperature control seem to lengthen to live of fresh vegetables. Love everything about this fridge!

We have had this fridge for 2.5 years and the ice machine just stopped working. Of course it™™s not covered under warranty, so we are looking at a huge cost to replace it. You would think a $4k fridge wouldn™™t be breaking after 2 years. I am so disappointed in the quality of this.

I love the refrigerator. Ice machine works as intended and haven't had issues like other fridges. Only complaint is that you cannot choose your handles before purchasing. They want another $500 to send you a kit. This should be an option upon purchasing. Other than that, it's great in matte white because stainless steel always shows fingerprints no matter the brand. (They're liars if they say otherwise.)

Have lived with this fridge for 5 months now and I have to say it is a wonderful product. The lighted rear wall is genius, illuminating the interior to be able to find things is great. The middle drawer I am using as fresh foods and everything stays fresher much longer now. We do have a secondary full freezer but the bottom freezer in the fridge with its 2 sliding drawers keeps all the everyday frozen foods perfect. Highly recommend this product!

Beautiful fridge! Also very functional. We love the flex drawer accessible from the outside for cheese, meat etc. Also love the fact that we can open one side of the fridge and access the pull out drawer for vegetables wihtout having to open both doors. Very smart design. Last love the water access on the outside with the autofill feature. This is by far my favorite fridge ever!

Beautiful Fridge - Not Sure About Handles

I definitely love my new fridge. It™™s beautiful and for the most part feels well made™¦. But, my problem is my handles keep coming off. Our installation team had trouble putting them on then two of them came off when they were used to open the drawers. Thankfully, no damage to the face of my fridge. We reinstalled - ensuring proper installation- but they are not staying on. It seems my handles may have a manufacturing defect. I™™ve had my fridge for 30 days as of the writing of this review.

I™™m obsessed with this fridge! It™™s gorgeous in my kitchen remodel and the features make it so functional. It™™s designed in a way where I can keep things better organized and therefore got more! I especially love the center compartment for snacks and drinks. Being able to access the settings via the app is also really helpful.
