This is being written only 2 days after installing, but this unit works extremely well. Very quiet operation and uses much fewer AMPS than the model that we replaced. We have a large room and this unit does the job.

I love GE air conditioners because they are sooooo quiet. This one is installed in my bedroom and it does not disturb me at all. I also love the features: a delayed start/stop and energy saver mode. I now have 3 GE A/Cs installed in my home in south Florida. I find that they are energy efficient, quiet, and effective at keeping my home cool & dry, even with our heat and humidity. I pay less to keep my home comfortable than my neighbors with central air. Took less than a half hour to switch out the old for the new including new weatherstripping and a few adjustments for the difference in size. I find that they last between 5-10 years of year round use, depending on location conditions, which is decent for the price. I paid about $200 without a sale as I needed it now. One change I would like to see is making them easier to take apart from the front to clean, not just the filter but the air vents and duct as well, for the once a month cleaning (not annual maintenance). Other than that, it's a champ!

It does a great job cooling the room when it comes on but the thermostat seems to register the outside temperature. This is a problem when it drops into the 60's at night but it is 78 or so in the room from the day sun or lights. We have to trick it to turn on by taking it out of auto and turning on high. Once it comes on, it seems to pick up the inside temperature and then we can turn back to auto. Also, we have no idea where the water drains.

I brought the smaller model of this AC for my bedroom 2 years ago. When I moved and got a larger living space I need an AC for my living room and it was a no-brainer to get this unit. It's extremely quiet and easily keeps my living room cool.
