Worked well for 3 times, then didn't work again.

I was excited to purchase this unit for its heating capacity in a cold room. It worked okay for the first three times I used the unit. However, the unit then made a loud noise after one cycle, and hasn't worked again. Even on fan mode, the unit will make a loud noise as if starting up, fail, and then try three times. Restarting unit and disconnecting power does not work. There is no error code to diagnose. After reading more reviews online I saw that this happened to few others' and their units. This is a shame, because it's a promising product but just not worth the money at this quality. I'll have to look into my warranty now.

Impressive Thus Far

I've been really impressed how well this machine has worked through a Wisconsin winter thus far. It has kept chugging along all the way down to 5f, just as advertised. Considering that the only other option for a window heat pump is Midea's $3000 unit, this GE unit seems like a steal. Here's to hoping it has a decent lifespan.

Heats and Cools!

We bought this unit for the addition which doesn't have central heat and air. We needed it to heat and cool, which it does. We wanted the heat pump so that the heat would work below 40 degrees in the mountains of Virginia. So far so good--no complaints. The installation was easy enough for my husband and me and took only about an hour. The best thing was the consumer service that I received when I called GE with questions. WOW!! The consumer service is very personal and very helpful. The unit is not too loud for the TV in the same room. My only issue (the reason for not going with 5 stars) is the temperature controls are not like a central unit; I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to adjust the settings. If you have the heat on and want the air to come out hot, then you need to put the temp all the way up to 80 degrees, even though you don't want the room temp at 80. Overall, it is a good unit for ac and heat.

Faulty fan

Out of the box the fan did not work. Fan would begin to spin then abruptly stop, it would do this cycle 3 times then turn itself off. This happened in cool, heat, and fan only modes. Contacted customer service and there was no option to repair the unit, only to send it back for a refund

Bought this unit from Walmart. I installed it and planned to use it for both cooling and heating. It worked for heating for about a week. Then last night the outside temp went down to 30 F. Even though it's supposed to be capable of running down to 5 F it stopped heating and started cycling on and off with no heat output. Waited until it warmed up outside and tried again, it still didn't work. Even tried putting it in cooling mode but it did the same thing. The only good thing is that I'm still within the time frame of reigning it to Walmart which is what I'm doing. This product is not reliable and it doesn't work right. DO NOT GET IT.

DO NOT BUY. Bought one of these. Completely crapped out after 45 days. GE will not give you your money back. They require you to go buy another one, and then send your existing unit back to them, and then they'll issue you a visa gift card with your refund. Bad unit, bad service.

So far so good. My first one never worked right out of the box. Amazon replaced it in just a few days. Here in Tennessee we're having 92+ degree days. Even with it set to economy mode it's keeping my bedroom and more very cool.
