No light in freezer, no hookup for ice maker

I was disappointed in the freezer. Don™€™t like the swing door, I thought it was a pull out drawer. The freezer doesn™€™t have a light and freezer is very small. I like the refrigerator area, Lots of room there. Oh and no hook up for an ice maker (which I knew about when I purchased it)

The 25 yo fridge was way better in the same space!

Poor interior design 7/25/2026

For starters: it was not the product I wanted to buy, but the all refrigerators replacing older models keep getting bigger requiring remodeling of the entire kitchen! So I had to settle for this smaller one still fitting the existing niche. It looks OK. To make the door reversible it has handles on both sides of the door panel - not a plus. The biggest downside is the engineering of the interior: the fridge drawers and shelf cannot be removed if you open the door 90 degrees; you have to be able to open them more! The top enclosed shelves on the door have a poorly designed hinge that is overly resisting movement. But the worst is the flawed organization of the freezer: three full width drawers. What ever you need to get out of the freezer you have to open the fully open the door. No storage on the door, no easy access shelves. No place for a quick access ice tray.

Day one, and the refrigerator produces a constant, noticeable hum. The noise is always present and becomes even louder when the door is open. I live in a small space and have owned three different refrigerators here over the years™€"this is the only one I can consistently hear. I™€™m unsure whether this level of noise is normal for this model or if my unit is defective, but it is far louder than expected and very distracting in a compact living environment. If you are sensitive to noise, this is something to be aware of. I™€™ve only had the unit for one day, so I can™€™t speak to long-term performance™€"but at this point, my main concern is how frustrating it already is and the prospect of having to deal with returning or replacing it.

I had a freezer on the bottom with a door and loved it. No leaning over the drawer. It allows for easy access. The doors open with a side indented area. This allows easy opening. None of that gripping a handle and hoping your grip is strong enough. I needed to get one that fit into my built-in cabinets BEFORE the refrigerators get too big.

We love this fridge so far!! Our previous fridge had an ice machine that broke, so we opted for a fridge without it. There's plenty of freezer space to make and store ice; we use the top freezer drawer for this. Externally, it's clean and minimal in terms of aesthetic. And internally, some of our fridge bins actually sit better now on the shelves. I attribute this to more space inside.

I absolutely love this refrigerator! I bought this after a 4 yr old Whirlpool French Door Fridge leaked water and did $17K of damage to my kitchen floor. This GE fridge is awesome! Super quiet! I never hear it running! And being counter depth, it doesn't stick out into my kitchen past my countertops like all my others. And being only 31" wide, it doesn't overwhelm my kitchen. There's plenty of room both in fridge and freezer! It keeps everything very cold, and the freezer works fast to freeze. One thing I really love is that the freezer has a swinging door like the refrigerator. I never was a fan of freezers that pull out like a drawer. I'm not very tall. A freezer like a drawer keeps me too far away from being able to see or get things in the freezer. Both fridge and freezer are very roomy. I couldn't be happier with this refrigerators!

New Refrigerator arrived yesterday. As I bought this site unseen I was pleasantly surprised at how much space I have. I especially like the 3 drawers in the freezer. Since I did not get a refrigerator with an ice maker, they have the perfect size drawer for ice trays, everything is well compartentalized. The refrigertor section has mulitple shevles on the door and plenty of shelving with 2 drawers. More space than my old refrigerator.

While the fridge works, has nice appearance (no logo on the outside) it is noisy. In our fridge there is a high pitch sound related to the damper motor. It's been replaced to no avail. Overall the compressor and the water gurgle, also to loud. We bought a ge in good faith and are very disappointed. We are going to replace it (not with a ge). I was told the noise was cosmetic....really?!!!!! Wow. I don't suppose this comment will win us any sweepstake but ge needs to know. Ge should be ashamed.

It's a slightly different design that most fridges: the handle is hidden on the side of the door and the freezer has free plastic drawers. I love this design: it's clean and super functional. No handle on door allows for a large magnetic note board which my household depends on. The fridge is spacious and shelves and drawers are arranged for easy access to everything. A word of warning: changing the direction of for door opening is complicated. I paid for delivery persons to do it and they broke it. It was fixed within a week and all is good but GE doesn't warn about this and it can be a problem. I like this fridge much better than my prior GE French door.

Smaller, simple, elegant

After doing a lot of research, we discovered that refrigerators with fewer bells and whistles last longer. This one is perfect for that, and it also has a footprint that fits our 1920s kitchen. It™€™s a very simple design, adjustable, elegant shelves, cools quickly, freezes, quickly, stores things amazingly efficiently. It holds everything that we need. Food is incredibly visible in ways that it was not before: everything is clear. We™€™re very happy with this, two weeks in. It doesn™€™t even extend past the countertops. Quiet, energy, efficient. All good.

A frustrating purchase

We chose this expensive model because it is "countertop depth." Overall, we are very disappointed. First of all, the temperature fluctuates a lot. We set it to 38 degrees. It can go up to 40+ (even after a few hours of no door opening) and down to below 30. The motor is loud. It seems to run a lot. We may get a device to test the energy it uses. Oh, the delivery crew was the worst we have experienced. The fridge doors needed to be reversed. The delivery crew did not do their job right-- one of the wires was out, the plastic cover strip on the top was not in the right place, one of the screws was not in, the hinge cover was missing and later found in the corner of the fridge, and hinges made big noise, and so on. The crew members need education. We had to fix the problems. Still, one of the doors makes noise, the sounds people don't expect when opening/closing a fridge door. Customers are given only 48 hours to consider a return. We missed the deadline and will have to live with it or put it up for sale on Craigslist (and lose hundreds of dollars). We do NOT recommend this model.

My first frig with freezer below so I love being able to see everything ...including in the freezer since it has 3 drawers for viewing everything after you open the door. The freezer wont hold as much as one big drawer but the viewing convenience out weighs that drawback for me. The shelves and drawers are a little flimzy but so far so good and I really enjoying how its organized. I also love the no handle door so it has a clean look that goes with any other appliance.

So far so good! We have had the fridge for 2 weeks and I love the look of it. It's a lot sleeker than our last fridge and sits closer to the Wall so it doesn't stick as far out as our last fridge. I like the no handles because it has a very modern sleek look that matches the rest of our appliances. Inside. The shelves are adjustable and easy to use. I find the space fantastic. I do find it lacks in freezer space but that's okay as we have a chest freezer and I prefer not to have my indoor freezer full anyways.

Ice builds up in the freezer and water still leaks on the floor, even after two visits from a GE repairman who cleared the ice. Still have the problem of water leaking onto floor. GE repairman said some opening in freezer area is too narrow. GE did not offer any solution to the problem. I would not recommend this product.

We love how simple and clean it looks, and the bottom freezer is good for our backs because we don™€™t have to bend down trying to see what™€™s on the lower shelves. The door storage is well designed and the drawers slide very easily on rollers. This thing should last us a long time.

I have had this since October, zero complaints. It is so quiet, I can't believe it is running! I really like the three freezer drawers, no more finding expired items that have been in there for years! You can see everything you have.

I™€™ve had the refrigerator for 3 weeks now and it is working great. Keeping everything thing fresh and cold. I like the drawers in the freezer section-everything stays organized. For the refrigerator, the wide and plentiful door organizers are nice. You can move the main section shelves if you prefer to have tall / big things there rather than the door sections. It™€™s quiet, temperature controls are easy.

Nice Smaller Fridge Without Ice Maker

This is a nice smaller fridge. We had a low cabinet and this fit 3 inches lower. It doesn't really feel like smaller storage because the single drawers give more space than 2 drawers side by side. Also without an ice maker, the freezer is 1 quarter larger. The drawers in the freezer are really nice separate compartments you can store more and easy to reach. Exterior is very brilliant stainless steel looks good. Just installed so it works well now, but time will tell. No light in freezer, but drawers pull out so you can see. Wish the fridge light was brighter and not such a blue led light, miss my old bright tungsten lit fridge. But this is better and very good energy conservation. Surprisingly only will use about $64 energy/annually.
