About a month after we had it installed, the top of the water heater got so hot that it melted the red and the blue plastic pieces that water lines went through to go into the water heater and they melted.

Our old water heater finally gave out after 20 years. We live in Minneapolis, where winters are no joke, so reliability really matters. We replaced our old 40-gallon unit with this 50-gallon model, and it™€™s been fantastic. We™€™re a family of four and have had zero issues keeping up with hot water. It works great, feels noticeably more efficient, and our gas bill has actually gone down slightly. We are a family of 4 and our gas bill has remained fairly constant, After installing this GE unit we suddenly saw a bill go down by 30%. This decrease has happened over the past 3 months. Our hot waters usage has not changed so we must credit it to efficiency. 30% may not seem like much, but over the life of the tank it will have paid for itself

I had to replace our water heater and got this one and I'm here to say I am very happy and pleased with the gas heater I got made by GE. This has provided sufficient hot water for my entire family and household! Installing it was easy even for a woman! It came packaged well too. It is a tall tank. It went perfectly well in our closet. And one thing I like about this one is it automatically shuts off if any abnormal temperatures are detected. It does what it says it does! Thank you for helping keep my family safe GE.

To be a 50 gallon it sure does hold a lot & the best part is we never run out of hot water with this tank. I was surprised and very pleased to find this water heater an easy installation. I replaced my Bradford White Defender 40 gallon with this GE 50 gallon model. I did not not need to make any adjustments to pipes or fittings, even though this GE has the capacity to hold 10 more gallons. As far as, overall dimensions, these tanks are the same height, with the 50 gallon being approximately 2" diameter larger. (It takes up ~1" more space on each side of closet)

I am really enjoying this new hot water heater. It has so many features. It monitors the air temperatures and if the temps are not normal it will shut off. I really like that feature. Heats water really quick. Its great for a family of 5. We never run out of hot water anymore. Has LED gas monitor. It was really easy to install. I think the price and value of this hot water heater is excellent. I highly recommend.

I just installed this this past weekend. It was easy enough to do with help from a friend. I think we were done in less than 2 hours. Throughout the week everyone said that they had a nice hot shower, regardless of the time spent. I am hoping that this continues, as the water heated quickly and lasted longer than our old water heater. I am very happy with this product, and like the durability and quality of GE.
