My previous water heater was an GE model (it was 23 years old and still running strong, but I was concerned about its age) , so I went with another GE. The installation was drama free and so far, it's performing running strong. Does not require an electrical connection which means I get hot water even it the power is out (which shouldn't happen very often, but in Michigan it happens so much neighbors have been purchasing automatic generators).
FInger crossed this one is as trouble free as it predecessor!

I will try to keep this short. After 20 years my original water heater started leaking and it was a GE. So I really was impressed with the durability. It was not easy to find as they dont sell them in the big box stores like home depot or lowes. But I feel it will be worth it based on my past experience.

[Employee of ge_appliances] I had such high hopes for this water heater. As an employee of GE Appliances, I was in need of a water heater and went with the company I work for since they make great appliances. 4 weeks in and it has been great unil today. Got in the shower to no hot water. Checked the water heater to find out there is a Door Thermostat Failure. Not what I was expecting from a unit that is 4 weeks old. Not a good impression GE. Now I have to deal with the warranty process which I'm not looking forward to. I'm going to have to pay out of pocket to get it fixed and jumps through hoops to get my money back.
If your in the market for a water heater just go through your plumber. Less hassle.

I replaced the hot water heater with the exact one I took out.There was nothing wrong with the one I took out it was 15 years old and and I was being proactive.when there was 4 of us living here we all could take showers and not run out of hot water.Never gave us any problems,I am hopeful the new one will be as good.

This water heater was recommended to us by the professional plumber. He mentioned it's capacity, efficiency, ease of installation, great performance and new technology is what we needed to replace the old water heater in our house. We also like the great warranty that came with the heater.

overall when product functions its great, it already errored out once had to wait approximately 24 hours so computer board to reset itself. when user guide states it should only be 10 minutes. and the fact that when product was ordered, it took a week for it to be delivered and only after being on the phone for quite some time so that representative can reach out to the delivery company to have them deliver the product, thankfully Robert at A1 delivery was able to make the delivery in his personal truck.

I had GE smart water heater 12 yr warranty installed for 17 yrs and it was still working without any flame out or leak. When I found this water heater and searched on efficiency I decided to replace it for peace of mind. I have installed this water heater and the water is hot and not have any issue. The product is improved on lot of ways and looking forward to years of benefit.

My last tank GE 6yr waranty lasts 24 years without any maintenance. Unbeleivable.I replace it with a 12yr warranty GE tank today. I have to order it from Mayffair because GE product is not in my local. GE water tank is the best.

Ordering was very easy and delivery arrived on the exact day stated at the checkout. The delivery crew placed the boxed water tank exactly where I wanted it. The unit arrived in great shape and the plumber had no issues installing the tank where my old one was. The recommended nominal temperature setting wasn't hot enough for our preferences so we adjusted the setting upward by one unit -- that worked great. The new tank appears to heat the water efficiently and is very quiet. Time will tell if this unit is durable; with a 12 year warranty backing it, I sure hope so. With the sale price I purchased this tank for, it was also a super value too, saving hundreds of dollars over a comparable unit from the big box stores.

The water heater was phenomenal and in excellent condition when it arrive at my curbside delivery. It took me a little longer to install due to the new size versus the old unit. The old water heater was also a GE 50gal. and was still working since 2004! I replaced it with this newer GE as a maintenance precaution. I had it inspected per our city and even the inspector was impressed and asked where I brought it. If you™™re considering purchasing this hot water heater, I would highly recommend it, absolutely a great water heater from GE. 50Gallon Gas. Temperature controlled and fair energy consumption .

I head before GE 50 gallon gas water heater, served me 17 years. I wanted the same reliable product. Was important for me the GE is made in USA. New unit exactly feet existing connection to water and gas. I am not a planner but with my son we installed together and safe a lot of $$$$.
I purchased gas water heater online in Sears because I couldn't buy directly in store in Colorado.
It was easy but unit arrived with minor dent. I highly recommends GE products.

After extensive online research, I settled on this water heater because of its excellent ratings, reasonable price, high UEF (qualified for a utility rebate), and extra features not provided with most heaters (like a brass drain valve & metal waterway). Free delivery to a room of choice provided even more savings. It arrived on-time and in good condition. Has been installed for over a month now and is providing worry-free service. GE water heaters are made by Rheem, which has a reputation for good products.

My previous gas water heater was GE one. It had warranty of 9 years but it's been working for 14 years, and still working, no trouble at all. The reason that I have to replace it because my home insurance company gives me a hard time if I want to continue my home coverage. New water heater is still GE. Love it for reliable, quality and "made in USA".

Tank was dented at bottom. GE did allow for a small credit but it is now the 2nd appliance I have ordered that arrived with a dent.

Well after the 8 days after the installation of this brand new water heater the controller went out of course on one of the coldest Friday afternoon's. Our plumber came out that evening on an emergency call and tried to relight the pilot but it would not work. He had to go too the distribution warehouse on Saturday to get the replacement part and finally after 24+ hours, he was able to get the pilot light to come back on. Aside from not being able to shower, brush our teeth, wash clothes and clean dishes (we are in our 70's and have arthritis) the biggest inconvenience was the unknown if replacing the part would work. Not impressed with GE quality!!

Product worked ok but the factory worker who installed the pressure relief valve did not fully align it so it is 5 degrees off the vertical, just like the leaning tower of Pisa. Shows a lack of pride.

I ordered the Platinum RealMax with 12 year warranty. My reason for choosing this model was the brass drain valve and previous experience with a GE water heater that performed very well. My new water heater arrived damaged as the base with no visible damage to the box. After installation, there is a sulfur smell coming from the control unit. I've soap-tested all my connections and I have no leaks to account for the sulfur smell. Further, the gas vent had expanded foam that had expanded into it. The burner chamber has expanded foam blobbed on the base plate near the burner - visible through the pilot light window. In terms of appearance, other than the damage to the base, there are scratches on the top of the unit around the inlet and outlet which may have occurred when the dielectric nipples were installed on the unit at the factory.

The GE - GG50T12BRX Hot Water Heater is nothing short of amazing. I have two twenty-something daughters that enjoy looong hot showers and they have yet to run this hot water tank out of hot water. The hot water regenerates quickly. It was installed easily by a professional. The controls are conveniently and easy to reach and turning on the pilot light was simple. I highly recommend this hot water heater.
