Noisy and quality is not good

I had this same model from 2014 and this one just seems cheap. It is loud, the display is white LED and does not match the stove light which is a yellow green color. The protective film on the interior door is bubbling after third use. I will be putting in a a manufacturing defect with the company. Just like everything else, quality has gone to crap.

So far, the microwave is good. My old one was not in use long enough to have died, so I was a bit skeptical in replacing it with the similar model. I was disappointed that the GE emblem had changed, as I wanted the microwave to match the other GE appliances which were all purchased at the same time when I renovated my kitchen.

Works great until it doesn't. This is the second over the range GE I've had in six years! That's only 3 years use per microwave. The control panel has gone on both. I love this microwave, but I feel this isnt an appliance you should need to replace every year.

Works fine but feels cheap for a $500 microwave

This unit replaces the exact same size model from 10 years ago that just failed. This one is noticeably cheaper feeling. When you push the buttons, the side panel clicks a little like the fit between panels isn™€™t great. The door is way lighter and feels chinsy. Other than that, it works fine and is quiet, does the job of a microwave but it™€™s sad to see the build quality go down after 10 years. Additionally, the old fitting installation bracket was a much better design 10 years ago. It was a large U shape with a bottom tray just like this one, but it had vertical legs on it that made it very easy to install in your wall and cabinet space. It was also way stronger than this was.

Changed Model Features

I had a previous GE model purchased 13 years ago. Unless I'm just used to the first one, I feel this one is cheaper made but of course more expensive. My first one had an upper tray - I wasnt able to find an upper tray included in the new models. The sound when in use seems louder than my first one. Installation was normal-but assumed it would be an easy install since it was supposed to be the same model but holes were off. Although I chose slate color, it seems a bit lighter than my previous one but will still work with my other slate appliances. Overall...it looks nice and well...it heats and cooks items.

Missing auto nightlight

Our previous ge microwave had a nightlight that that could be programmed to come on in the evening and shut off in the morning. I'm disappointed that feature in no longer offered. Everything else works fine.

I loved my microwave, but just realized the door is broke. The design is poor, it is cracked from pulling on the handle to open it. There isn't any other way to open it so its definitely a design flaw. I haven't even had the microwave 3 years. Very disappointed 😞

Disappointing replacement model

Very disappointed in the replacement model for the original we bought in 2015. The quality had declined greatly. I had to buy the GE emblem to match my 3 other GE appliances from eBay for $11. Wish we would have just had the electric panel replaced instead of buying the replacement model. Also the certified installer installed it incorrectly and we had to have a tech come and reinstall it correctly as it was not venting with the correct plate.

I absoultely love this GE over the oven microwave. I selected it because of the beautiful Slate color when we replaced all of our kitchen appliances when we remodeled our entire home. The finish is finerprint resistant and looks so beautiful with our navy blue and white cabinets. the 1.7 cubic capacity is perfect for heating up veggies or simple meals. When pans on the stove top put out too much steam, the ventillation fans clear it right out. The controls are easy to use and it provides and additional timer along with the stove for cooking multiple dishes. Even if you have used a microwave for years, it is well worth the time to read the manual as it has important information pertaining to the features of this model. It also has suggested cooking times if you are not used to using a 1000 wattage microwave. Finally, the dimensions worked perfectly in our kitchen without needing any fillers on the side. I love these appliances and am glad i purchased the extended warranties so they will be covered.

Bought this to replace a ge adora microwave that took a crap after only 7 years. They look almost identical but conveniently the mounting bracket, and all of the holes through the cabinet were different. Thanks GE. Also the only reason I stuck with you is to match the rest of my slate appliances. Keep building stuff to break. In 7 years since I remodeled my kitchen your dishwasher broke in 5, and your microwave broke in 7.

Loyal GE customers. We are aware of GE sale to Haier. Our new microwave does not feel a substantial as past models. Operates fine, keypad a little too stiff. Had to change mounting bracket after 29 years in our home( other GE used same bracket over the years), small work around and alignment.

I ordered this microwave thinking it was exactly like the previous one. However it did not have the additional rack in it. I am not happy with this microwave. The plastic covering the digital panel has melted on various buttons that are used frequently. This microwave was just purchased in November 2024. This never happened on my previous one.

The efficiency of this microwave is perfect for a family. It heats up things quickly and evenly . It is quieter than our older one as well the 1.7 ft.³ size is all that we need. I like the way they made the surface of the microwave easy to clean. All you have to do is really wipe it down with soap and water so the durability is easy. We bought an appliance package including this microwave less than 4 years ago. We have had nothing but problems with it. It was repaired once and although working again the sensor buttons stopped working one by one ever since. The numbers on the display started disappearing so we were forced to replace it with the same microwave so it would match the rest of our appliances. Not happy about that at all. Hopefully this one will last.

I've had to replace this slate colored microwave twice due to arching & was not repairable. Each appliance did not last more than a few years. Unfortunately I'm not expecting my new one to last long. I mostly wanted to keep all my appliances the same color. Otherwise, I would have purchased a totally different one. However, when it's working properly it's a nice one! I recommend purchasing at least a 5 year warranty.

Great looking over the stove top microwave. Install was a breeze. Template for the top of the microwave that you are supposed to tape the the underneath of the cabinet was unwieldy. I ended up just measuring the disatnce of the top 2 holes from the of the front and sides of the microwave to the inside of the cabinet front and sides. Then drilled the two holes.

GE Slate finish microwave

This was a replacement for a microwave that we had for 10 years. The finish is slate color matching all the kitchen appliances. We installed it about 2 months ago. It works as it should. The only thing different from this one vs the original is the sound it makes when you close the door. The new one feels like the door is hollow and unsubstantial especially when comparing it to the original one. Things definitely are not made as good as they used to. I hope I can get 10 years out of this one. If so, I can put up with the hollow sounding clank when the door closes.

Figured it would cost more to repair it than to replace it and so I ordered another one.
