The water tank to our ice machine expanded while being stored in the Uhaul during our cross country move. It was only in the U-Haul for 2 days in August, but it was hot enough to cause the water tank to bow out. It would no longer fit into the base and rendered our ice machine unusable. I™™m so happy to have the replacement. It works/fits perfectly, and we have our ™crunchy ice™ back

Much easier to always have ice on hand. Everyone loves this ice so much we had to refill 2-3 times a day before we got the side tank.

I loved this thing when it would make clean ice, but after about a year and cleaning per instructions and trying everything i can think of i can no longer clean the machine as to not had mildew specks, so i haven't used it in a year because i have no idea on what more i can do.

We have been using this ice maker for about a year now. It works very well, the ice is soft, and with the side tank we purchased there is always a good amount of ice for our family of four. It does need to be cleaned regularly and we put a "name brand store" bottled water through it. It is quiet and we all love it!

This is an absolute must if you have the Opal Ice Maker. It takes all the guess work out, you know exactly when the water level is running low and are guaranteed to always have a chamber full of ice!

Do your research. This is the best ice machine out there. We use a LOT of ice. The side tank saves time and I never worry about running out of water. Fill it up in the morning and it™™s good for the day. Very simple to use, easy to clean.

The family loves the ice, so this was a great way to keep from refilling the water multiple times a day. It is rather pricey considering it contains no moving parts (it is the same technology as an "automatic" pet water bowl). It matches the look of the ice maker perfectly, though, and it has done it's job reliably.
Then yesterday, after 8 or 9 months of use, I noticed a leak at the seam around the "bottom" of the tank. Upon further inspection the two pieces had not been glued together very well. I found that there was some gunk building up in the crevice. I also found that I was able to pry the seam apart entirely.
With everything clean now I would like to glue it back together, but I cannot find documentaton of what type of clear plastic this is. I suspect I can use food-safe ABS glue as some of the sales listings call out ABS and PETG as materials used in it's construction, but I'd hate for it to come apart while being used.

I have a first Gen Opal, that™™s brushed metal with black plastic, and the GE version is brushed metal with grey. Not a huge deal for the trade of if a larger water tank. If I could fix anything though, I would rather have the top open to pour into, versus taking the tank off and filling from the bottom. Other than that, the simplicity of setup is amazing, and not having to pull the ice tray out to fill it up is very nice.
