This product came loose and was crushed into the ice. I didn't realize it had happened until I found shards of it in my crushed ice. I have 5 kids who all use ice in their drinks. So gross.

This part is total Garbage. It obviously gets brittle in the freezer and cracks rendering the ice maker useless, not to mention its $30 for a cheap piece of plastic!! This was an expensive refrigerator and the ice maker is a chronic problem. I'm not sure why GE wouldn't just correct the problem. I regret purchasing this refrigerator.

Since we moved into our rental three years ago we have had to replace this part at least six times. Poorly made and a waste of money, but a necessary part if you don't want to pull the huge ice container out every time you need ice.

We have not been able to enjoy the use of the ice maker because the "ice dispenser bucket drive cup" is poorly constructed of plastic and easily breaks, making the ice maker inoperable.
There are numerous YouTube videos on replacing this defective part; one such has 53k views, another 9.5k. The fact that there are multiple YouTube videos instructing the replacement of this part, is suggestive that this is a systemic and not an isolated problem. We can further deduce, given the volume, the root cause is a design flaw in the product.
Given the number of people watching these videos there must be quite a lot of people purchasing this replacement part.
After going to the GE website, all the reviews have given the replacement part a 1, at best a 2-star rating.
It appears that the GE standard of product quality and service is not what we have come to know, since this problem remains unresolved. It™™s not logical to throw more money to an unresolved problem, so responding to reviews by asking customers to, "Contract a certified GE appliance repair person," is not the answer. GE needs to step up, with product quality and customer service. We just purchased a GE cooktop and had to return it 3 times within 30 days with problems. Will GE at least correct the quality of this product and or make an honest effort to correct this so we have a functioning ice maker?

This will be the third time I am buying this part. GE should be replacing it free of charge. I do not need a repair person to remove the ice tray and place a cheap piece of plastic in place. The problem is your Auger helix and auger drive are both metal, but the drive cup is PLASTIC. Add that to crushing ice cubes and it will continue to break.
