After reading all the reviews of this plastic drip tray losing it's finish, and that a new one
(also plastic) is a ridiculous amount of $$, my hubby sanded the old ugly one, and spray painted it! We used Rust-oleum Metallic Paint & Primer. It looks as good as new! Don't give up, people.... There is a way!

Your 'new' stainless steel is actually brushed nickel. Even with the technician/orderer using the refrigerator's model number, it does not match!

The "Chrome Plating" (ie paint) peeled off the plastic and pitted. I just tried to order a new one and they want $55.00 for something that should cost no more than $10.00. I have all GE Profile appliances which we will be replacing in the next 2-3 years, and I doubt I will consider GE again. Too many other brands to choose from now. Very poor decision on GE's part to overcharge for such a cheap piece of plastic.

As all other reviews here have indicated, this tray gets stained and the paint peels within a few months. You can buy another color for about 1/5 of the price. This one used to be priced similarly. It had a different model number but it was just like this one only cheaper. There is no reason that this color costs 5 times as much except perhaps because the SS refrigerator costs more and GE thinks people spending more for a refrigerator don™™t care about spending so much for a piece of plastic. GE, in order to maintain their reputation, should lower this price back down to what it was before, should supply an actual stainless steel tray. (Tried to add photo; don™™t know if that worked.)

I have had to buy these incredibly over priced drip trays on a regular basis as they only last a few months. I agree with the other comments here. I cannot believe this has not been addressed with complaints that go back years. It's a shame the drip tray will keep me from buying another GE product.

This "stainless steel" drip tray is the antithesis of stainless. Ours stained and peeled within months.It should be stainless steel but it is plastic with a cheap finish. Instead of offering meaningless platitudes about "commitment to quality" GE should improve the part or provide low-cost or free replacements to its loyal customers. We have been buying Profile products for 24 years but now it's time to move on. This fridge is the worst appliance we've owned. We've replaced the heater once, the control panel twice and the ice maker twice. Really.

I am amazed that with all the complaints about this product that GE does not come up with a plausible solution. It is obviously a very visible component that becomes unsightly very quickly. Either rework the part to be sustainable...and by sustainable, I mean actual stainless steel and cleanable, or bring down the price by 2/3 and sell them three at a time and fess up to the flaw.

Original grille was discolored and the chrome finish was flaking off, so purchased this replacement. It lasted for 3 months before it too faded and started flaking. Very disappointed. It's not stainless steel as it says in the title.

ZERO STARS. Have replaced this part several times, its plastic and peels and gets ugly very quickly. Tired of replacing and looked up part again and price has went up even more for this cheap plastic part that does not last.

This is a piece of plastic that is $96 to replace. It is stained, peeling and pitting, why would anyone replace it with the same item? Very disappointed. If there were an option for zero stars that is the option I would pick.
